Whether you are up for a short, easy hike or a long bike ride, there should be a trail for you at the Nara Nature Park. Not only does Nara have over 100 acres, it connects directly to Michigan Tech’s trail system, providing over 50 miles of various trails for hiking, running biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Kayak and canoe access is also available on on the Pilgrim river. Nearly a mile long, the floating Nara Nature Trail Boardwalk runs along the Pilgrim River and is upgraded to modern accessibility standards. The chalet, located near a sledding hill, features interpretive displays and a fireplace, is open to the public year-round. For more information and directions, visit the City of Houghton-Nara Nature Park website.
