Instructor Name: Emily Svenson

Community you live in: Calumet

What do you teach at Kaleidoscope? I am an online instructor and I teach Health class, Skiing, Ice Skating, and Sports Sampler.

List any Family/Pets: I have a husband named Brian and three kids: Finn age 13, Olive age 9, and Greta age 7. We also have a dog who is 1.5 years old, his name is Elon. He is a black lab springer spaniel mix, and is a lot of fun!

What was your favorite topic to learn about when you were young?   When I was young I had a lot of fun cooking and learning about food. I also enjoyed reading and writing a lot.

What is your favorite topic to learn about now? Anything health related. I just love to learn about natural health!

What project are you working on now that you are proud of? I recently graduated from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, so now I am working on beginning my wellness coaching and preparing for board certification.

Do you have a favorite color?  I love all of the colors but if I have to pick a favorite it would be two- gold and pink together.

What’s your favorite thing about teaching? I love seeing the kids’ responses to the assignments, especially artwork and videos.

If you could go any one place in the world, where would you go and what would you do? I would go to Bali to do a lot of yoga, eat amazing food, and enjoy the beach, the warm weather, the different culture, and the artwork.

Everyone has one–what’s your hidden talent (something you’re great at that student may not know about)? My hidden talent is coaching! I love to help people work towards their goals and overcome challenges along the way. I have a passion for working with women and teens. I think all teens can benefit from a coach who can support them in making good decisions and to realize their strengths; someone who is separate from their family or friends.

What’s your favorite food? My favorite food is sushi. I love getting food from Sky Sushi!

Thanks for sharing about yourself, Emily, and being a part of our Kaleidoscope team!
