Each week on the blog this month, we have highlighted three different electives and shared a lesson snippet. This week, we’ll finish up our tour of virtual electives and take a look at STEAM A, Visual Arts B, and World Cultures C.

This STEAM A lesson explored the art and science of snowflakes.

You’re going to cut a paper snowflake and use salt to make sparkly salt crystals on top of the snowflake!

Click the photo of the snowflake to visit the directions and make your own!

In Visual Arts B, students not only made a stacked sculpture, but they made their own play doh too.

Learn to make a stacked sculpture in the style of Saloua Raouda Choucair.

Visit here for the tutorial!

In World Cultures C, students sampled a variety of cultures and languages. In this lesson, they explored the Japanese language.

Let’s start out our exploration of the Japanese language by learning some greetings. Use the attached resource to learn to say things like “how do you do,” “good morning,” “yes,” and “no.” Click on the words to hear the pronunciation.

Try these Japanese greetings yourself!
