Soil Art Activity + 2 More Themed Resources!

Updated: Oct 15

Can kids make art with soil? Yes! Can kids grow an avocado plant from a pit? Sure can! These resources, plus gardening with kids videos will keep kids busy exploring the August farming and gardening theme this week.

Soil Art

People have been using soil to make art for as long as people have been making art (for pottery, paintings, to dye cloth, etc.). Explore soil art with your young gardeners by making your own paint from soil.

Kitchen Scrap Gardening

Believe it or not, oranges, lemons, limes, sweet potatoes, avocados, carrots, beets, onions, and ginger and many other vegetables and can be used to propagate new plants. With guidance from this resource, give it a try!

An avocado pit can be used to grow a plant!
